What is an EMAG?
The European Mensa Annual Gathering (EMAG) has been pioneered by the German Mensa organization Mensa in Deutschland which organized the first EMAG 2008 in Cologne. The EMAG is taking place in different countries every year and visited the following locations in recent years: Utrecht, in 2009, Prague in 2010, Paris in 2011, Stockholm in 2012, and Bratislava in 2013. At the EMAG Mensa members from all over Europe and the world attend workshops, lectures, guided tours, activities, and use the event for intercultural networking. To participate you need to be a member of Mensa.
Mensa was founded in England in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a barrister, and Dr. Lance Ware, a scientist and lawyer. They had the idea of forming a society for bright people, the only qualification for membership of which should be a high IQ. The original aims were, as they are today, to create a society that is non-political and free from all racial or religious distinctions.
